Had a leak near base gasket on left side
Did a base gasket swap (and rings)
Runs sooooo good, but again in the same spot an oil drip / run and even more than that old torn and worn gasket
Seems to be more oil than the gas / oil mix, am I nuts? Where would 2 stroke oil come from if not the base gasket and why does it appear so thick and not the injection mix?
I used copper gasket spray and a good quality OEM gasket
Is it a sin not to use Yamabond on that base gasket? Maybe I answered my own question there

Any chance that it's coming from the oil tank breather pipe, or can you see it seeping from the base basket?

I would love for it to be coming from somewhere else
I'll have to trace that breather tube (not sure how it would make it all the way to the cylinder)
Would it like, run down a frame rail?
I thought maybe that clutch arm gasket but looks dry around that
I'll get a light and try to see origination

I seriously doubt that's from the base gasket.
Try dusting the area with flour... it's probably coming from up higher and/or from behind and running forward/down? If two stroke oil maybe one of the lines has a leak.
Or yes, the oil tank breather hose runs up and forward along the left side of the main frame tube and oil could be dripping from there

The possibility that Mark is suggesting just happened on my DT250B in my recent post about my oil pump check valve appears to be failing. I had to give it a good thrashing for at least 10 minutes to clear out the 2-stroke oil that accumulated in the cylinder and crank case. During that time it smoked like crazy and the exhaust had a lot of spooge blown thru it. The spooge was blowing out around the o-ring joint where the silencer fits into the exhaust muffler. That oil spooge ran down the frame rails and along the frame cradle and was dripping from the lowest point being the foot peg bracket. So the source of the oil was up at the silencer joint but it would lead you to believe it was maybe the shifter seal or the output shaft seal. I’ve heard the dusting with flour or talcum powder works real well to find the source. Obviously you need to clean it well first so that you start fresh on tracking it to the source.
