I am going to be posting as I work on this bike. This I think is the worse part of the bike, the electrical, lighting.
I guess he needed to weight the bike for balance with all those washers and love the chip of wood he used to space things out under the speedo.

The gauges, not for a 74, appear to have case, glass and rims that look reusable. Not sure about internals. DEET, your thoughts?

I'd assumed the bucket was from a 1970 CT1.
1972 Yamaha CT2 175
1972 Suzuki TS185 Sierra
2000 Suzuki RM100
2003 BMW F650GS
2009 Yamaha WR250R
2013 Yamaha XT250

Or bucket could be DT3?

Left hand switch definitely RT2, RT3 + about a dozen or so of the other Yamaha trail bikes (enduros) of that era. The YHA 205 carcass was used in differing forms by most Yamahas of that era. You should get quite good money if and when you want to sell it.

The parts you show look like they are for pre-1974 bikes... not yours.
The gauges look bad. The one with a screwdriver in it probably cannot be repaired if the connector is loose.

Where the Yamaha Enduro is still a current model...

Can someone ID this carb. The guy had no idea what it was. It looks rather new...I'll probably replace it with a stock one.

How does this work? There was an intact cable to the rear top of the engine.

Engine does not look bad. No scarring, but low compression 100psi static.
Enduronut, whats your schedule look like. Looks like a bore, piston and rings. Still need to check the crank play, etc.

Re the carb, we'll need a clear photo of all the numbers/letters stamped on it in order to id it.

The item above the exhaust mounts is the decompression valve. The valve should be open when kick starting the bike to reduce the chances of a nasty kickback.

On the DT360A onwards it is linked by cable to the kick start. Once you re-attach it, push gently on the kick start and you should see the cable open the valve. On the earlier RT2 and RT3 the cable was opened manually via a lever on the 'bars.

I think that the 320 might indicate a Suzuki fitment (GT550 is 340 and GT380 is 330). The markings are close to what you might expect for a TS400 Apache, but I'm guessing a bit really and so will shut up!

Ahh. Suzuki. I noted the throttle cable was bound against the exhaust. Looks like I'll have to sell it.

There's one on ebay at the moment and the guy's asking lots of bucks for it! It would be great if someone could give a positive id for it before you sell.
