VIN Help on my restoration was created by tangotango

Hi All

I'm far down the line of restoring my DT80MX 81-83 from sitting outside in someone's garden for 15 years:

Got it to this stage now:

Big question - I can't really read the VIN.... Could someone tell me how many letters/numbers it is meant to be? from what I read it should be 9. I read it as 12X-000573.

Thanks!

I agree with you and 12X is the model code for a 1982 UK DT80MX. Presumably you weren't given a V5 with the bike?

Also, is the engine number the same as the frame/VIN?

Thanks for the welcome!

No V5 I'm afraid
Good point, embarrassingly I hadn't thought about the engine number! I will do that tonight.
