ISO exhaust baffle was created by R_Dub5

Hi, new member here! Recently picked up a 1982 XT200. the exhaust baffle is missing and i'd like to find a suitable replacement. The OEM one seems to be unavailable anywhere. the inside diameter of the silencer pipe is 1 13/16" or 46mm. Does anyone know of a place to find something that will work? Thanks so much

I can't help you directly, but I have attached a couple of images that can be found on the CMSNL website. The website shows this part as being fitted to the XT125 as well.

I am ISO the same piece ironically for my 82 XT250.

Any way that you could share a PN or searchable noun for that part on the CMSNL website?

Thanks!

Well, even a blind squirrel finds a nut from time to time!

For the 1983 XT125 the PN is listed as: 15E1475200 on the CMSNL website
www.cmsnl.com/yamaha-xt125-dual-purpose-...03.html#.X677xVBlCUk

For the 1982 XT250 the PN is listed as: 3Y11475200 on the CMSNL website
www.cmsnl.com/yamaha-xt250-dual-purpose-...06.html#.X6741VBlCUk
Also For the 1982 XT250 the PN is listed as: 3Y1-14752-00-00 on CheapCycleParts.com
www.cheapcycleparts.com/oemparts/a/yam/5...0209bc787544/exhaust

Looks like #11 in the screenshot here

Ultimately I would want someone on the phone to measure it to ensure that I had the right part before shipping it to me, but looks like some low cost replacements may be out there?

Remember the days of having to dive into the microfiche?

Yes, that looks like the part.

Link to CMSNL photo might attach itself below (they don't always work!).

Post a specific wanted advert here and keep watching fleabay.

A lot of those old fiches are for sale on fleabay now. If you have access to a decent viewer and/or can print them off, they are a good source of original part numbers before any supersession.

Thank for that, @Gr8uncleal

When I saw this article on this (GREAT!!!) website about decoding Yamaha part numbers:
www.yamaha-enduros.com/index.php/worksho...-yamaha-part-numbers

So, knowing that I was able to tease apart the PN that I am trying to source: 3Y1-14752-00-00, the "3Y1" is specific to the XT250 that I am trying to source parts for as evidenced by the VIN

So the next number group "14752" is a general exhaust baffle PN, correct?

Lastly the "00-00" is the suffix for no part number succession and no finish codes, correct?

Now, my question is would something like this work?
Exhaust Pipe Outlet Spark Arrester for Yamaha 1S3-14752-00-00
Buy It Now

The eBay seller was unable/unwilling to measure it for me. Anyone have a "best guess" here?

I think you answered your own question. Is 1S3 your model designation or the prefix of the part in the parts list for your bike?

1S3 isn't even a motorcycle model code, it's a later model quad. It's not impossible that a part with a different model code would fit, just extremely unlikely.

Gotcha, @MarkT

We only have one MC boneyard in our state, and they are quite a few hours away, not very responsive by email, so I am trying to let my fingers do the walking in the old yellow pages saying.

The "14752" is just a generic PN for exhaust baffle, so unless I can get someone to help with dimensions, still a guessing game.

Thank you for the assist!

There's a pipe on ebay that looks kinda sad but might still have the insert?

You might ask the seller if they would sell the insert and throw the rest away to cut down on shipping costs or something.
