Gave my '78 YZ250 to a neighbor kid 20 years ago, but cleaning out my garage, I found a NOS clutch cable, (p/n 2K7-26335-00), still in the original packaging. Free to anyone who will put it to good use. I think it also fits the '78 400. (Then again, if you have one, you already knew that!)

Was an IT400 guy up here the other day that could do with it i think www.yamaha-enduros.com/index.php/forums/...els/7908-1978-it400e . Wouldn't mind it myself but too far away to be viable. Put it on Ebay it'll go in minutes. I'm still getting over 'You gave away a YZ250E 20 years ago. Hell i'm gonna lose sleep over that lol.

"Gave the bike away..." Yeah I know, but by that time I had thrashed the bike for 20 years, and it was just sitting in the barn. The kid was good at heart but in danger of falling in with bad friends. The bike gave him a focus and kind of forced into meeting new people. Besides, by that point in my life I had moved on to AMA roadracing with an old TZ (U) and a new FZR400 for supersport.

Btw, did the guy with the IT400 really paint the frame Kawolski green? Sacrilege! :EEEK

Howdy!

Im new to the forum, and also to my 78 400e, i had a 250 before i could drive a car, and recently found a nearly immaculate 400e at my wife's ex's house (our sons father) hes a good guy and sold me this for a mere 400$ as he out grew it silly harley enthusiast. (not hating just saying)

I am in desparate need of a n.o.s. clutch cable, is it still available?

if its any consolation to the other post.

My father and i rebuild a 250 when i was a teen, and i came home years later, wanting to go for a brraaap and found he sold it.

not quite a give away, but its was a gut shot wound to me. lol

ElvisEnduro... the "free" cable is for a YZ not a DT... not sure it would work. Frank posted a link to a cable that should work.

I think Frank and Mark are right. Looks like you need a 1M1-26335-00. Search that p/n on ebay and there are a couple of active listings for about $10 + $10 shipping.

Good move on your part. You never know how you might affect someone. Like Frank Reagan says "It's what you do next that counts".
