We're probably talking semantics here but I'm fairly certain a European 1F9 model had a 6 volt battery with a flywheel magneto.

A 125 with what many consider a "generator" would be 12 volt battery with combination electric motor and generator which gives you electric start capability.

Do you know which you need?  Does your engine have the clutch lever on top of the engine or is the clutch lever inside the side cover?  Does crankshaft have a threaded portion on the end or does it have a threaded hole?  Is the ignition mounting diameter in the case 130mm or 120mm?

Sorry if I used the wrong terminology but  it should have a 6 volt system and a flywheel it is kickstart only .. the end of the crank is threaded ... the diameter of the backplate is 120mm and should have 2 coils on it with points ignition

You're fine!  It's just that in the US all our 125 models through 1976 had the 12v generator/starter so wanted to clarify.

What country are you in?  There are likely other magnetos that might be more commonly found.  What wire colors do you have for the magneto harness?

Yellow, black/white(points), green....

I am in the UK and I have only just bought this bike and I am still waiting for the key so I can get the seat up and then I can get the tank off and see the wiring .. the bike is a French import and someone has fitted a 125MX engine in it but I already had a 1F9 engine in bits and going through it I have everything to assemble it except the magneto .. I think I may already have the correct magneto backplate with the windings so I think I could get away with just the rotor ..I do know that the US model DT100 from 74 - 76 has the same rotor Yamaha part number is 437-81350-20

125MX ignition (complete) should swap over as well.

It's also easy to tell by the harness coming out of the engine.

My guess from what you've said so far is you'll find the original 1F9 ignition system on the 125MX engine...  that would have been the easiest thing to do.
