Some of my early trail bikes #1
Trail bikes were at their peak of popularity during the mid '60s. Honda led the market beginning in 1961, and the rest of the big four quickly followed the leader. However by 1970 the market for non-competition offroad bikes had all but faded away, with Yamaha completely out of the genre because of the success of their Enduro series and Kawasaki and Suzuki were using the same frames as their Enduro style bikes however usually with a dual speed transmission arrangement. Only Honda kept in the trail bike market into the '80s.
So I thought I'd roll back the clock to the Trail Bike "heyday", (1965-66) and do a little comparison that a potential buyer might face as he shopped the "Big Four" for a brand new trail bike for Christmas in 1965. I think we all know which brand won out back then, but now, 54+ years later, which one would you choose. I won't pick for you, as I would be biased but love them all.

Nice herd ...aye, you even have a fuel pump! Heck, all ya need is a tractor, put in a Hare n' Hound track around the whole place! We could all come over and race, ...for pink slips! (....just funnin')

No, seriously, very nice quality herd.

Hi Rizingson, you have a great collection. They all look perfect! Have I seen your collection on ADVRIDER? They look familiar. Great pictures, thanks!

You've likely seen a bunch of my bikes on ADVrider, I used to post there and many other forums regularly. Many of the forums are going belly up so have been mainly on Facebook groups for a few years now, although not as Rizingson.
I wish pictures would post better here, seems they get pixelated when they are shrunk down, bummer.

Very nice collection!

I'm biased too... I was too young to get one Christmas 65 but a few years later I got an MG1-T "Honda killer" :ROFLOL

Step-through frame version of the YG1T... Someplace I have a 1964-65 brochure showing the YG1-T (I think it was the "K" version with Autolube) and the MG1-T...

P.S. On the pixellization... I reduce the size of the file before posting and it works much better.

1963 YG1-T, 1965 MG1-T, Allstate 250, 1970 CT1b, 1971 R5, 1973 AT3MX, 1974 TS400L, 1975 RD350, 1976 DT175C, 1976 Husqvarna 250CR, 1981 DT175G, 1988 DT50, 1990 "Super" DT50, 1991 RT180, 2017 XT250

I also have an MG1T which is currently undergoing restoration.
