Bubbasendsit...  not sure what you were asking and you've seemed to answer your own questions.  The bike obviously has been stripped of many original parts which if you're okay with that, buy it.  If you want to restore to original then might not be a good start due to parts rarity and expense but that's up to you to decide.

As far as "lipstick on a pig"...  that's a completely different category in my book...  one where someone takes a rough bike and rattle can paints over the rust and tries to make it look nicer than it really is.   This one looks like someone's stripped down custom "cafe racer" project or something and might be priceless to the person that created it but are generally worth far, far less than a mostly original example.

If you do look at it, ask if they still have the parts they removed.  And if you like it for the price, it has a title (if that's important where you live) then buy it.  Just know that if you want to put it back original it might cost a lot more than starting with a more original bike would.

Thanks guys! It is still for sale but I am 99% moved on from it emotionally. I'll keep an eye out for a major price chop but I don't think this one is how I want to blow my Stimmie.

Gr8Uncle, good point about the importance of knowing the right model year. I was thinking of the old Programmer's Razor: the best way to get the right answer on a forum isn't to ask your question but to post an answer to your question that you know is wrong.

So you're not even interested in the bike and your point for posting was to "forum bash"?

Seems like a waste of time to me but it's your life.

And who am I to talk...  I waste a lot of time here trying to help people as best I can.

I was interested in the bike on Sunday when I first posted it. What I wanted to know was what people thought about it. I am surpised my request was so confusing but I will make an effort to be more clear and consice in the future. If the pros said what was left looked good I might have gone and made an offer. When nobody answered me my interest faded.

The classic joke about trying to get info on a forum wasn't intended as 'forum bashing' but I understand why some people here would be a bit sensitive to a joke like that. I meant it as good natured humor.

Regards! Bubs.

Not mine, '78 IT250 for $1,200, looks like a decent resto candidate considering how beat most IT models are.

Yes, I saw that earlier today.

Hopefully the original headlight bucket has the speed warning light paraphernalia with it still.

Yes I saw that JDM earlier .... frame vin 36xxx and no stamp on the engine case .... seller thinks JDM s never had engine stamped ....
odd one as it has the 68 Speedo (kph type) and small tacho ....
if it had been a low vin number I might have had a go at it ....

cheers
