Due to the extraordinary growth of the membership and resources, we are once again bumping up against hosting limits. I am working on a fix. In the meantime, the forum should function, but you won’t be able to attach images. Working as fast s we can to fix. Thanks for your patience. - Makotosun

I wish I had seen this thread before, a lot of great posts here. My given name is John William Crandell, nickname is Jack. I got my user name back in early '90 when I was on a job, starting out as a new employee for a construction firm I stayed with for 22 years as a site supervisor. To test our knowledge to start with the company, it was the norm to have a newcomer work with another super for a short time. It consisted of for me, to be put in a room and be told, "trim it out".... no more instruction than that. These were high end homes. One of the openings I had to set a prehung door in was too small. I had a hatchet I kept in my toolbox at the time, so I proceeded to chop out 1/4" more of the opening to get the room I needed. The super walks in while I am doing this and called me "hack". It was a name that stuck with me for the time I was there. I added the "man" to the end, since I love working on computers too. The 101 ending I had to add later since the name was pretty popular, so I found out. Besides, it is like Elementary hackery...although I have never been a hacker, do not know any coding to do so, but since it was a computer term, it helped fit in as part of my "handle" . My email uses the "Latin version" of hackman...hackusmanus.

Like others, I don't know how I missed this.  When I became a member of the Yamaha-Enduro.com site many years ago I had a DT1 and an RT1 (plus other street bikes that did not matter here)  I chose RT and DT too as my username RTD2.  When I went to my first event a lot of others were concerned that I was a star wars geek.  I could now be RTDTCTATMXFZ plus a lot of other letters.
