Two thoughts about this:
1. That is such a killer Aerosmith song off of their “Rocks” album. Great memories of cruising main in my 1971 Firebird listening to that album.
2. I truly don’t get how these folks can ride that far day after day. My longest day in the saddle was just over 600 miles on my FJR1300, and I was cooked after that.
True iron men/women that can pull that off.

I know what you mean, its brutal, the first and most important is the seat. You can see on the video that some travel away from the pack then meet back up, they are after the high points. I have talked to a few that have done the rally, if your trying to win it it is much harder, you have to travel further to get extra points. Twice I have done the easiest of the IB rides, SaddleSore 1000, has to be completed in 24hrs. First on a K1200lt, 2nd on GL1800. SS100 isn't to bad, I left at 3am and finished at 6pm.

Thanks Mark

I don't think the EX250 came out until the mid-1980's... not 1976. (2009 Finisher) I had one of the early ones for a while.

1963 YG1-T, 1965 MG1-T, Allstate 250, 1970 CT1b, 1971 R5, 1973 AT3MX, 1974 TS400L, 1975 RD350, 1976 DT175C, 1976 Husqvarna 250CR, 1981 DT175G, 1988 DT50, 1990 "Super" DT50, 1991 RT180, 2017 XT250

Not a surprise BMW has the most finishes with 540-starts and 39.8%, but a few other 1% incl, Zundapp(dnf), Vespa and Ural.

First year...1984 Iron Butt Rally results:
10 entrants started the rally; all finished;

Thanks Mark
