Kick starter problems 2 was created by bo.burrell

Hey guys, still having problems with my kickstarter, I have taken it apart and the teeth on the gears look great inside, but for some reason when I push down on the kick start lever it does not make the two gears in there over lap enough to get a good kick. Need help! Thanks!!

I have a video of the problem, but not sure if I can post a video on here, let me know if anyone can help!

Hi, not sure what bike we're talking but looking at your profile you say Honda DT175--so i'll bet it's a Yamaha DT175?, so on that line of thought the problem will be related to the friction clip 10 missing the guiding slot in the case

Right now the only video option is to upload it to YouTube and then embed it here.
IF it isn't one thing, it's another.

Found a case pic on ebay of a typical yamaha motor & can see the guiding slot looking at where the kickstart shaft sits in the case the look to the left at about 10 o'clock 11 o'clock & can see the slot the ear on the clip must be engaged with. I'm guessing if you lean the bike way over to the right the kick will engage as it sits now if still assembled. If in bits then look at the clip operation. If it's none of the above then--i give up. Cheers. ps. got a feeling i've written all this before but maybe on another persons question/problem. Have a good new year, from NZ, think we get the new year first lol. Nearly for got the pic.
