It's always a good day when you can put something back together, even little things. Thanks to DEET and one of his steering damper o-ring kits I can put my damper back together.
I put a couple wraps of vinyl tape on the spline. This will keep the sharp edges of the spline from damaging the ID sealing surface of the shaft o-ring. Used a little silicone o-ring and seal lubricant.

One more piece done!

I've made a little progress on fix'n up project. The frame and associated parts are at the powdercoater. The side cases cleaned up good and got a couple coats of Spraymax clcearcoat.

A lot of parts hanging ready for assembly.

More parts ready for assembly.

And tub of hardware bagged, labeled and ready.

I got my new $19.99 + $9 shipping ebay chain tensioners. They are not for someone building a perfect show bike. The chrome is ok, not what you want for show. I'm building a nice clean rider so for the price I'm happy with them, especially after getting a price of $72 :EEEK for one nos from a vintage nos part supplier. The old ones on the left have been bead blasted and don't look as bad as they did. I was hoping to bead blast the chrome off the old ones and zinc plate them but gave up when it was obvious most of the old chrome wasn't coming off.

Back from the powdercoater. Now the fun begins! I'm very happy with the powder coating job, nice shiny fininish. It helped that I spent a day with my 2" disk sander and a file smoothing all the sharp corners rough edges. It's also nice that it was done here, less than a mile from my house, in my little town of Floyd by a machine shop that recently started powder coating.
