:Excited , Hello enduro fans, I think I have the slowest resto going to date.. :Coffee ,,, but here is the progress as of today.........

I like this color, it takes me back to Fauss & Hallzy dayz.

not a great pic but you get the idea...

The swing arm was installed, gauges, gas tank and front fender, have also started assembling handlebar controls. It's looking like new grips will be purchased & added as well.
I have made a color change from orig. virgina gold to white but will have another set of tanks done that color in the future.

Do you put any coating over the bare aluminum- like any clear coat?

If it moves and shouldn't , use duct tape. If it doesn't move and should, use liquid wrench.

It looks great! I like the color combination. Those deer antlers added to the front of the bike would add a nice touch.

Deer antler's, REALLY! :woohoo: , that's funny..
Will look into designing that feature to add at a later date. :ROFLOL
As far as clear coat, I've read some threads on here that do and don't use it on there projects..
I would like to see more info on the ones that used it and what product worked best.
I may do as one other site user suggested, and do my fork legs first as they are easier to strip.
Thanks for your comments,

It's been a few very cold days since I posted last but that's changed and I've been in the shed turning the wrench. :woohoo: , Anyway, I've started on the front forks tear down/rebuild. Need to source a chrome shop for the replating of the inner tubes. I'm in the mid-west states.
Have also recieved the donner rims that will be re-laced to the orig. hubs, "alum. rims to be polished."

Is there anything I should be looking at in these valve assemblies other than normal wear?

Rear rim shown from 1977 DT250, very nice condition, had original rubber on both front and back rims, great find.... :) , just need elbow grease....& :Coffee

Haven't posted anything on this project for a few days, but progress is being made.
Sent my fork tubes and some others pieces to Economy Plating, Inc. Thanks Mike S.
They should be back end of the week, I hope. Great people to work with. :woohoo:
So lower fork tubes have been polished up, pic's..

This pic shows difference before final polish with Mothers and sanding process,

3 1/2 hours later sanding included they're ready for final cleaning inside and then re-assembly.
They are not show quality but will suffice for this rider.
Will post pic's of the assembled forks when done.

Very nice! How much does he charge for misc hardware? He only charged $100 for my forks.
