JT1 - I don't know what to do next was created by TheRiggs

I picked up this beat up JT1 the other weekend and it ran on the first kick after I
1.       Cleaned all rust out of the tank with evaprorust
2.       Cleaned the carb replaced fuel lines
3.       Mixed unleaded (nonethanol) 32:1
4.       Cleaned petcock
That’s all I did. And I rode it all over with no issue. Maybe 1hr.
Now it wont turnover and worst off it won’t shift now!
The previous owner told me he put a new clutch pack in it a year ago.
I’m learning here so please be ignore my ignorance but what do I do about these two scenarios?
1.       Won’t start
2.       Not shifting
Thanks all.

Cool little bike!
assuming it's not locked up (can kick it over) I would::
- see if gas is flowing out of line at carb
- remove plug and check for spark
I am sure I missed something

Did it stop while riding?, just thinking about the shifting fault. Has something come adrift causing it to lockup the motor, or does it spin over but not run. Does it shift through the gears if you rock it back & forth while moving the gear lever.

Gas is flowing. I can see it spraying in the carb when kicking it. It died after I had it running in neutral.  The shifting fault might be it, but the motor still spins when holding the clutch in. plug is sparkingI'm getting 55lbs-ish compression

55lbs compression isn't a lot but if it was running then must be enough--if it was running then that isn't 'this' problem. Unless was running & caught a ring in a port but thats not going to happen on a good old JT1. I have an MR50 with almost zero compression to feel on the kickstart by hand but starts with a push then gets better while running--till next time. Basically its stuffed but will redline through the gears.

Someone on fb says maybe the clutch plates are stuck.

Hadn't thought of 'that' but if you were riding it around then shouldn't be stuck together but does happen when parked for a year or so, If they were stuck you could still select gears just rocking it back & forth & clicking through the gears. When a gear is selected it'll be trying to turn the motor if you push it along with the clutch pulled in if it's stuck together--fiber drive plated to steel driven plates.
