Devin recently discovered what appears to be a possible back on the site (or a possible practical joke by a member :EEEK

We have shut down new registrations temporarily and limited some other access. I am personally screening any new members at this time.

The source may be somewhere in Turkey, though we are reviewing logs to determine this. No site files appear affected, and no user data appears compromised at this time. Still - I am recommending you update your password in an abundance of caution.

I will post updates as I learn more in this thread. Please subscribe together notification of updates. If you are new and trying to register, please be patient, as it may be a short delay as I examine new registrations.

We take security seriously here, and will advise if any other actions needed on your part. Thanks for your patience and ongoing support.

Mako

How do we do that? I don't see an option anywhere for change, other than."I forgot my password." Is that what you are suggesting we use? Even though I have not forgotten it.

Also, how does one get the password NOT to be saved in the password box on the log-in??

Kinda like chasing an electrical problem on these old bikes, really...

There should be a “Settings” tab at the top of the forum when you are signed in? That allows a password reset hopefully!

Click on "User Menu", then "Edit my Account".

A little way down there is a place you can enter your current password and then change it to a new one.

In my experience, password saving is mostly a function of the browser being used. I use Mozilla Firefox and it usually prompts me asking if it should save the password. When you go to change the password, tell it to NOT remember the password for that site and it shouldn't.

That is correct. saving passwords is a browser function. I would like to stress there is no evidence of any damage or actual "hacking" of the site. We were set up to allow members to add articles which then had to be approved before publication. Due to this activity that function will be shut off. If you are interested in providing written articles for the site to be published under your name, we welcome those contributions. Please contact me directly and I can set any member up with such access. Articles are nice because they become part of the tech library, while forum posts can get lost in the shuffle, and often can contain a lot of off-topic replies and such.

I am still monitoring new signups for the time being.

I have re-enabled site registration, but an admin will be manually approving all new accounts for the time being. Thanks for your patience.
