Good Morning:

First - a HUGE thank you to all of our members who have grown this site from a delusional idea of a couple of old enduroholics to OVER 5600 active registered members! With site growth, as well as my ongoing attempts to try out new features, the site has gotten a bit bloated. Performance has suffered a bit, and the installation of various features for testing and the like has created a site that needs a bit of work. Kind of like the bike you just got where the PO did a lot of custom wiring . . .

Long story short, I have been building another site for another group - not yet up but I will be announcing it when its ready - and in that process, I am planning on rebuilding this site in a bit leaner configuration, keeping the most useful and popular bits, and making the user experience a bit less frustrating. Along those lines, I would like some feedback.

Obviously the forum and the tech library are the biggest draws and will continue mostly unchanged. The forum especially will not change, though I anticipate response time when you post will improve dramatically. The tech library will get some upgrades and reconfiguration, though the content will be mostly the same.

Do any of you use the "social" features, i.e. the Facebook-like sections. The user profile pages, the user photo pages, The user STREAM , The classified ad section, the events management, the messaging system, etc.?

If you could take a minute and comment on this thread, and tell me what is useful, and what is not? It will be really helpful moving forward.

Most importantly, don't worry. The site is NOT going away.

We had to go offline for a bit this morning due to some site security issues. Update patches applied and all should be good.
Sorry about doing that with no notice. Sometimes you run out of fuel at the worst possible moment.

I use the forum, tech library, and private messaging.
If your trying to trim the fat to increase speed: I don’t use the user photos page, the classified ads, and the events management. Those are my suggestions. If you want to set up an event you could make a sticky post. And if you have pictures they could be posted on the forum.

I’m very pleased with the website and hope you find the balance you want

I personally mainly use the forum and the tech library. I also use private messages and find them quite useful. Those are the most helpful to me and the main things I use. I never use the facebook like stuff, I've only clicked on the classified ad section once. And I don't use the event management either

Mako,

My $.02 is that I use the Forum, Tech reference section, PM, and little enough else. Being a former Fed, I have never been to any social site, I repeat NEVER. Too much exposure...

I am GREATLY appreciative of ALL the people I have met here, and especially for what YOU do for us, and I have no doubt that this will be helping newly-made Enduroholics in 20 years or more! See you at Cal Dreamin' 2018!

Of all the restorer sites/forums I use this is by far the slickest. It's evident that a lot of work goes into it for which I'm grateful.
I use forum, tech section, classifieds and messaging.
I don't use social functions or user stream but always start by clicking on new posts to see what's cooking.
Awesome site, keep it up.
