Please consider a different method of posting pics than PHotobucket. They have begun charging for third party linking (i.e. you have to pay them to show your photos there on this site) and the rate is quite expensive. IF YOU QUIT PAYING THEM, YOUR PHOTOS STOP SHOWING UP HERE.

To avoid this indignity, we allow you to upload your thread photos directly here. Read the attachment section below, or follow the instructions in THIS THREAD

There are constantly questions about how to post pictures in your posts on forum sites, so I decided to make a decent tutorial on how to do it, plus some neat other posting tricks.

To post an image on the site, you can use the little button second from the right in the second row above, but it is not really that intuitive. Either way, you will need to have a place on the net to put it, and photobucket seems to be the preferred. It is free, and fairly easy to use. Upload your picture there, then go to the picture and you'll see this, kind of off to the right of the actual picture:

This image is hidden for guests.
Please log in or register to see it.

There are two easy ways to get it to display in your post.

The simplest is to click on the "img code" (highlighted in red in the picture) and that code (you can't see it all) will be copied to your clipboard which you just paste into the post where you want it to appear. Sometimes when you use this method, the picture will only show as a link in your edit window, but if you do a preview post (below the edit window) it will show.

The more complicated method, if you want to use the posting buttons on the forum editing screen, is as follows:

In Photobucket, click on the "direct link" and that code will be copied to your clipboard.

This image is hidden for guests.
Please log in or register to see it.

Then, you click on the picture button on the forum toolbar up top which will give you this view:

This image is hidden for guests.
Please log in or register to see it.

Then you put your cursor into the box marked URL, and past. Make sure you don't end up with a double "http://http://". Once you have done that you just need to click insert. You can set the size there, but I believe the software will autosize it anyway.

Pretty straightforward stuff.
IF it isn't one thing, it's another.

An alternate method for photos is to simply attach them. They will show below and will need to be clicked on to see, but is a simpler method for those not wanting to open or mess with a separate photo hosting account. You can see an example below at the bottom of the post.

Using this method allows you to post pictures without the need for a separate hosting website!

UPDATE: Please review this thread on embedding the attached photos . . .

PLEASE NOTE: Photobucket which used to be free for hosting and embedding images on forums has instituted a Ransomware policy of requiring you to pay $400 per year for the privilege of doing this. If you have been using PB, and are not an existing P500 account ($400 per year) all of your previously posted and embedded images will show up on sites as:

Our site allows you to upload your photos directly and at no cost. We hope to be able to do this as long as our site revenues continue to cover our hosting costs (we are pretty comfortable it will). You can read about how to do this at:

yamaha-enduros.com/index.php/forums/how-...to-posting-part-deux

If you prefer to have a hosting account for your photos and embed, we are researching some alternatives. We will post up some thoughts in the near future.

If you have all of your photos on Photobucket, even using the site has become completely unusable as a free member. There are popups that make even navigating amongst pages nearly impossible. There are some internet discussions that PB may be in financial trouble, so backing up the photos you have there might be a good idea.
IF it isn't one thing, it's another.
