Tore apart a carb today from my DT400 that had been sitting since I messed up my shoulder in Moab. Apparently I didn’t drain the carburetor.

Ahhh, the old 20:1 peanut butter trick

Seriously though, how old is that? I've never seen the consistency and color of Jif before.

It was last ridden at Endurofest-Moab in spring of 2013.

You can see my DT400 about 1/2 through this little video clip on the trip.

wow, seen lots like that but thought it was just our crap fuel but looks like its everywhere. mind you--how many years, 6 or something. Interested what you guys use to clean up a mess like that. ya lucky the pin came out of the float arm without a drama.

Actually needed a small lunch and lamer to remove the float arm pin!

I use Berryman’s carb soak in the gallon can. (49 state version, not available in California). It’s the best thing I’ve found, though I may try Pine Sol on an upcoming carb as I’ve heard good things about it. Much cheaper for one.

I've never tried Pine Sol, but kerosene works well, and 1 gallon is relatively cheap.
