OK, here I go again....good news is that she fired up last night and made it around the block a few times, needs some tuning, not getting enough gas when throttled up, it chokes out. Anyway I hope some of that can be cured with some adjusting by someone in the know.
I look at my ignition and I am baffled. Cannot start bike without it being on but the key will not turn it off, did someone get in there and hotwire something? All other electrical is working great.
Hand out, looking for help again or referral to a post I have not found yet.
Thank You!

Have you pulled the carb off, cleaned it and made sure the o-ring is there at the bottom of the needle jet; where the part from the top 1/2 of the carb inserts into the bottom of the bowl on the bottom half?

Ignition, I'm terrible at electrical stuff but I'd go and clean any ground related to the key switch and then go from there.

the engine runs off of the mag, the lights of of the generator with a small battery to confirm to law. There are schematics available here for your bike and some other posts that may show it more clearly.
try the search option. If there's fire in the hole, you're on the way :)

thanks Darinm, cleaned the carb and yes the o ring is fresh and installed. Ignition will be a good winter project, looking like a dusting of snow for us tonight.

thanks for the info, have some diagrams, I will continue to trace it. Man, it was fun and sounded pretty good until i gave it a little more throttle...my carb is thirsty with not enough to drink. Cheers.
