Mako....very sorry for your loss. I have been "ripped off" myself and it really cast doubt on one's belief in humanity !
Most people are good it's those "bad" few that really undermines our trust !

I'm really sorry for your son. Besides the monetary value, the bike you learned to ride on can never be replaced. Hopefully they'll be caught and you'll get the bikes back.
A while back I wrote a news letter for Dirt Bike club I belong to. I thought a good feature would be a list of recently stolen bikes in the area for club members to be on the look out for. I contacted the head of local auto theft task force to see if they could provide a list. He told me if he did our newsletter would be as thick as a phone book! Unfortunately dirt bikes are prime targets for those not willing to work for a living.

Replied by KennyandtheJets on topic STOLEN BIKE(S) - UPDATE #3 - the Hodaka Comes Home!

Its no consolation but its getting so bad here in Sydney with bike theft that the police off the record have told me to lie on my registration and insurance about where my bike are to be garaged. Their off the record opinion is that someone is selling info from inside to gangs..
When in doubt, power out !

That's really bad to hear.
Hope they're recovered.
Someone tried to break in my work shop . They did £1000.00 worth of damage to the building including the concrete floor, and damaged a bike inside.
Response from police, err no there was non.
Found them my self after a time and retrebution was very hard and swift.I hate thieves, they boil my piss.

Some promising news -one bike is located though not yet recovered. Possible sittings of another. A couple of suspects identified.

Hope to see some progress today.

More news when I have some!

It just stinks. I really dislike people who steal others property. Especially kids stuff. Will keep eyes open in the Midwest.

Well at least we recovered the Yamaha GT80!

Fast sleuth work on my end (found it listed on an online site) and the county Sheriff who really hit the ground running, did a fake “buy” and paid with some handcuffs!

The bike is pretty much unscathed save a few little scratches. Seems to rune fine as well.

Now for the rest of them. Keeping our fingers crossed! We got a few more leads . . .
