Bought a NOS oil tank from the UK. Yamaha Part Number 438-21705-01-36, Nearly perfect condition.

Anyone have any idea which bike it was for and a picture of the color scheme of the bike?

It's obviously for a DT 250 / 400 B/C . The last two digits in the part number
are colour codes . As you say it's white , and that wasn't an option in US market in those years .
Seeing as you purchased it out of the UK , it's obviously a European colour
variation . They often had quite different colours and decals to US models .
For a picture of their bike , possibly trawl through Yamaha brochures on
Ebay . co.uk . You might get lucky .
