It is a 1968 YL2-c. We have specs and a downloadable factory manual at this link:

IF it isn't one thing, it's another.

Well looks like a labor of love. Im poking around for a double seat. if i find one that fits i can let ya know. as you seem to be seat-less.

Good news is a lot of fiddly bits are still available on parts web sights. Ebay seems to have a bunch of bits to.

OH and i scored a L5T official shop manual.

so if you have any questions i can look up info and "quote from the good book".

Hey thanks for the kind offer.

These must have been common in Thailand and there are heaps of NOS parts on eBay and some others including seats and things so that’s good.

Yesterday I pressure washed it down and cleaned out the carb side of the engine and the intake piping.

The rubbers are rock hard and the paper air filter had disintegrated. I guess I’ll put an aluminium flange into the airbox and install an oiled foam air filter in the airbox.

Crazy design how the carburettor is inside the side cover and it draws air in the side cover so the side cover has to be sealed to keep dirt out.

Perhaps that meant less dirt and mud got into the carb pretty cool although there is a mesh drain hole st the bottom of the side cover so if you drowned it it would have filled up.

Yamaha l5t
Gear selector lever
Tail light
Battery
Tyres
Chain
Horn
Air filter
Left side cover
Side cover knob
Fork gaiters and seals
Oil sight glass
Seat
Mirrors
Clutch lever
Brake lever.
tank badges
Choke lever
Brake pads
Speedo o ring
Globes
Blinkers

Here’s my updated shopping list. Going to make sure it runs before I go splurging. But needs quite a few parts to get it roadworthy.

Metal finished a few dents yesterday too. Just little things to have a bit of fun.

Cleaned out tank and fuel tap

I will put a battery and new spark plug in next and try it with a bit of fuel

Think it’s going to be loud with the stock exhaust dos the baffle I think has been smashed out.

Is there a cheap alternative for oil tank sight glass. My plastic has rotted and is leaking.

Carb is on the side of the engine because it's a rotary valve design... there's a spinning disc that opens an closes the intake port. Yamaha called it a "rotary jet"... Disadvantage is the width of engine... advantage is it was the most powerful two stroke design that wasn't super "peaky" like the high performance piston port designs.

Oil tank window is still available... fits a lot of enduro models. www.partzilla.com/product/yamaha/214-21761-00-00 Not very expensive.

Oh thanks mark forgot about partzilla!

Random question. On speedo is 4 indicator lamps
N is neutral
F I presume is flasher
C is ??? Charging ? Battery indicator ?
H is high beam I think.

Is that right ?

Also I have ignition key but it does not fit tank or steering lock. I am thinking that is a different key. The code is stamped on steering lock. Would Yamaha still be able to cut me a key or where should I look for that ?

Also what chain does it run. Is it a 420. Couldn’t find that in the manual.

Owner's manual is in the Tech Library.

yamaha-enduros.com/index.php/ownders-man...9-l5t-owner-s-manual

It should tell you about the lights but what you said sounds right.. If you can't find the chain specs, check Partzilla.
