1975 DT 125CC was created by Turbotim

Hi all,
I recently picked up a 1975 dt 125
I am open to all idea and suggestions
Im looking to upgrade the engine ideally.
Here what I've done where I am so feel free any views.
So I picked the green machine up out of a barn,
I managed to get running, was heavy pitted with rust,
I changed the rear shocks, replaced battery, new trans fluid,
castrol 2t oil in oil res, cleaned wheels...got Boyce reeds on the
way, replaced air filter and sorted neutral wire...

I need to sort tank as has rust inside....so any ideas??
Do you legally need indication light by law??
I need new forks any people know any decent ones??
The exhaust was stripped petrol put through and set
A light then clean prepared and high temp black paint
on it.... I know alot of people will say buy a bigger bike
And I totally agree but I really want to keep this bike
I plan to use it on dartmoor and camp with it..
Im sure I don't need to explain why people love 2t bikes
The style the class of the bike....
I ideally would like to pop a 175cc in it or bigger..
I know its from France and its been registered in UK 3 years ago
The log book says its 1974...
I studied nvq level 2 in car mechanics so im fully aware
Of all the basic principles so feel free to go indepth as you
all wish, I dont really want to spend more than 1k on the engine
And its currently a long term project, im a training nurse so this
is my down time to relief from stress.
a good friend of mine says port grind..
I have not really done anything with bikes ever so
All new to me.... if anyone has suggestions on parts to buy
Please advise

Welcome. Just go ride it & get to know it before spending pots of gold on it as once you start on the rebuild it'll go on for a long time. If it's electric start you'll need a good 'big' battery for that. But if its kick start only then battery is partly to save the lights from going too bright & blowing out. Also battery is needed for flashers & brake light plus horn but not a lot else. It balances the charging system to the headlight & things. 175 top end will swap over as an easy performance upgrade.
