[76 DT400] Need help identifying what part of the wiring harness was cut #1
It appears that previous owner snipped a whole tail of the harness. I know the bike wasn’t running lights or anything. But can anyone confirm for me what this tail of the wires were originally leading to?? Pic included

Would you be able to carefully cut off about half an inch of the insulating tape so that we can see the colours of the wires? Thanks.

My first "guess" would be rear lights, rear indicators and maybe rear brake light and even battery, but there might be more.

Looks to me like the cut part of your wiring harness goes to the headlight bucket. Here is a picture of my 76 DT400. Notice the straight portion of the wiring harness that exits from the "500" side of the wiring harness label goes to the headlight bucket in the upper left corner of my picture.

Here is a picture of a 1975 DT400 harness I have, not sure if this helps you or confuses you, this harness has been butchered it appears in a few spots as well, if you need more pictures of the whole harness or specific areas let me know.

Yes that's the front of the harness not the rear. Lots of wires up there :(

Hmm. I’ll keep an eye out on ebay. Maybe it’ll be smart to just pick up a complete one.

You might try contacting DEET This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

He makes new high quality harnesses for many models... or at least he used to, not sure if he still does. He might even be able to make the section you're missing.
