Apologies if I'm asking obvious questions here!

So in the picture it shows the wires coming out of the engine on my DT2. The four to the left are correct according to the wiring diagrams yellow, green and red, green and black.
But I also seem to have an extra black one and a white - can anyone please tell me what these are?

Also when you connect the battery does it have two leads to the negative - one going to the bike and one to earth?

As you can tell wiring isn't my thing!

Thanks Deet
Can you help with the battery question too?

I am going to order all new from you but want to get it up and running quickly as I am going to be racing it in a few weeks.

The Battery Negative wire has a ring terminal , which is fixed hard to the
bikes frame beside the battery box . The frame is then the earth return for
the whole bike . Make sure earth connections are clean . Not a bad idea to
put grease on connection to ward off corrosion .

You say 'I am going to be racing it in a few weeks'. Just picking up on this--as if that's your aim then the only wire to worry about is the 'black' from the mag as that supplies the spark to the plug coil. So no battery required & none of the other wires are needed. Just straight to the plug coil with a kill switch for safety & away you go. Tell us more about the racing bit as sounds very interesting.
