I am sad to announce that after 12 years of owning one of the best bikes ever built by Yamaha (and father/son bonding too), I sold the IT250 last Wednesday. I will say this, I promised my dad/DTDave I would keep this bike until I have kids someday, but due to many expenses that the bike cost me out of my pocket, my mom forced me to sell the bike to raise money to keep the two YZ450's in tip top shape. I really hope my dad in spirit wouldn't be mad at me for breaking that promise....... I included a pic of me and the bike from 2015 back from a rough desert trip.

To be completely honest, I am very bummed about selling the bike.....I hope my two desert racing YZ450's will last me for many years to come like the IT did!:Throttle
I will do whatever it takes to keep them running!! B)

Mothersbaught, I hope he does. To be completely honest, I miss him to this very day, especially when I was forced to sell the bike which happen to make me feel down... :(

like Mothersbaugh said don't worry. Being a father also, one of the goals is to raise a good person and productive to society, and I'm sure he did that. He would understand selling the IT.

Just the fact that you're on this site and still riding dirt bikes shows that your dad planted the seed and it took root. So keep them YZs in top shape because it's your job now to plant that seed farther down the trail. Carry on and do it your way buddy.

Schu, at least I have two bikes that are way more dependable than the IT. I hope the YZ's will last me a very long time!;) I hope I can take both YZ's to Dave Meis' events at Gorman...

Bikes like yours are wickedly fast. My son had a CRF450R that scared the bejeebers out of me. Since you were raised around dirt bikes I'm sure you know how to maintain and repair them when needed. Have fun with them and always ride within your abilities. If you ask me, top speed is overrated. Acceleration is way more fun!

Schu, I will do whatever it takes to keep the yz450's happy for many years to come. One reason I sold the IT250 is to raise funds to keep the money aside if the bikes need it. I also just sold my prized 2002 DRZ 400E by Suzuki. Best bike I ever had but needed the money for keeping the two 2017 Yamaha YZ450s happy and healthy!:OnFire

So since two of my original bike I use to have are now gone...so hopefully my YZ's will give me much joy and happiness like my IT and DRZ did!Yay2
