Muffler packing question. #1
Did the IT175G have any packing in the muffler like the newer bikes? When I took out my baffle to burn out the exhaust there was none in there. I haven't seen mention about it anywhere...

I never had any on my IT125 either, when i put back the silencer on my 250 i did use some, but it was literally a 3 inch band wrapped round the baffle.

Grrr... I was looking for a picture I have when you posted and couldn't find it... found it and renamed so I can find it next time again.. anyway...

Here's a picture of how they came from Yamaha new:

They used wire to hold the fiberglass packing... packing is black-ish color because insert it appears Yamaha painted after packing installed.

77 & 78 IT175's are packed. Here's a couple of pic's & like Mark shows, wrap with fine wire to hold in place.
I use FMF 2 stroke packing. Don't forget to burn off the excess on the tubing.
