I was not expecting the pan to look this bad. Can this pan be repaired or is there any where I could buy an after market? Looking for advice. Thanks

There was some talk of KDI Reproductions coming out with one... not sure if he did yet but couldn't hurt to check.

Also there is a place in Vietnam that makes a whole seat assembly (not just the pan) that fits and looks pretty close... some said they have tried them. Old thread here:

yamaha-enduros.com/index.php/forums/74-7...0-360-400-seat#67119

(I might need one for my 1975 250... not sure yet... haven't started on it. Was hoping Dave at KDI would get his done soon.)

I had a similar issue with my RD200DX (coffin tank, not sold in the US).

What I ended up doing was getting a fibreglass one made up using what was left of the metal base as a template/mould.

When it came back from the fibreglass place I handed it over to my local upholsterer to trim off the excess and professionally fit the new cover.

Cost me about £120 ($150?) or thereabouts.

You might, of course, be able to pick up a decent second hand one. I'm sure that you already know that the same seat is used on the DT250/360/400 for 1974,75 &76.

Good luck with whichever way you go.

It could be repaired, BUT.... it would be very costly.

Dave Kolbo at KDI, says the 74 DT / RT seat pans will be out earlier next year.
( Thanks for the Kind words Mark !!! )

I did e-mail David and he said he was at least a year out. I am buying a 1974 yamaha 250 that has not run since 1995 from a friend. I bought the 360 in 1974 he bought the 250, we rode a lot together in the 70 and 80s. His 250 has not been wet other than when we took them by the car wash to clean the mud off . My bike I took to my hunting land for a couple of years and put a tarp over the bike, but came back sometimes and the tarp was off, I should have known better.
I think most parts should fit my bike. My plans are to swap the rusted parts with the 250.
Thanks for everyones help.

You Sir are correct. About a year out.
I am KDI product tester and his bike builder( sometimes motors, sometimes not.) I get stuff earlier than most before it hits the shelf.
I lit a fire under him to get it all going on those seat pans. We shall see....
