Skid Plate / Bash Plate was created by vinyamaha

Need to know if a skid plate / bash plate from a 1975 dt400 will fit a 1978 dt400.  I have looked on the forum and can't find out.  I am trying to buy one but seller does not know.

Not likely if you're talking stock...  if something aftermarket it might be able to be modified?

Here's the list of bikes that should have the same stock skid plate as your bike according to Yamaha.

Good luck!  Notice that there are a few YZ and MX models that used the same part...  kind of reveals the "racing heritage" your bike came from.

Early motocross racing models were basically "hopped up" and stripped down enduros...  later Enduros were more "detuned" racing models.

Do you know if '79-80 models are the same? I may have one on a frame under the house(don't hold your breath), will check tonight.

I make my own bash plates from an acrylic sheet called Kydex,  .028"  thick.  You can buy sections of all sizes.  It is a high tech plastic which is highly resistant to impacts and fluids.  I first used it to make floor pans for my racing kart, an enduro with a Yamaha KT100 engine that was 1" off the ground and would suffer impacts (pavement bumps) on road courses at speeds over 100mph.  Never failed.

You can cut it with a razor blade. and drill holes.

The New York City transit company uses Kydex in buses as seat and wall panels to resist the abuse from drunks and out of control teenagers.
