Needed - crankshaft seal was created by bosco659

Long shot but looking to find a left side crankshaft seal ASAP in the Toronto, Ontario area. Will order from the dealer but they usually take way too long. Anyone have one they can sell me? For a ‘78 DT175E.

Do yourself a favor and use the 77-79 IT175 seal on the left side. And if you're lucky, one of those will be more available. :likey

Ok I’ll look into that. What’s the difference with the IT175 seal?

It's a true dual lip seal designed to seal pressure and vacuum. Original seal is not.

Original works okay... until it doesn't. The IT seal (also used on ignition side of that era YZ125) is much better.

Hey Mark, should a dual lip seal be used on the clutch side or is that a preference thing?

Yes, but the standard seal is dual spring-loaded lip on the clutch side... it's only the ignition side Yamaha didn't use one on some 125/175 models.
