Do the switch's need a earth ground through chrome handlebars to work?

I have re-painted bars and most of the switch's don't work???

Thanks!!!

Best to be very specific about what works and what doesn't work if you want a good answer.

Horn button and possibly engine on-off toggle need to ground through handlebar.

Front signals also ground through their mounting.

Bike had no signals connected. Read the post about all turn signals need to be connected, grounded and have proper wattage bulb to actuate relay. Thanks for that!

Handlebars are painted black(?) Ordering new chrome bars for good metal ground.

Horn switch not working, kill switch not working and turn signals not working becuz not hooked up.

Rear brake switch not working, but haven't really looked at it yet. Will clean it up and check with ohm meter when done to see what happens.

Front brake switch works when plug going into brake lever is held. Looks like tab is missing. Ordering new.

Yes, they need to be grounded. My switch was broke and I ordered one off e-bay and it had a ground wire. I was able to splice that wire in the headlight bucket and not have to worry about grounding at the switch.

Well, after much mucking about, I found that the rectifier was bad adding to the problem. Replaced that and the flasher and we are golden. Anybody want to buy a nice 78 DT250?
