Battery was flat today, popped the tank off to check the rectifier and getting weird results....maybe modern testers don't operate like old style ones ?....no needle swinging left to right lol.
OK New rectifier shows no resistance when connected with correct polarity but shows 1.847M Ohms when connected in reverse ?, book says should be 9-10 Ohms and red to red etc...weird.
Testing the 1 on the bike same sort of results...2.120 Ohms and nothing when connected as per manual.
Anyone have any idea's ?, I suspect the rectifer is good as same results as new 1 but cannot explain the readings ?. Looking at the diagram there isn't much else to stop the battery from charging I will go check voltage from the coil shortly.

Resistance test is often inconclusive with a digital meter... best to use the "diode test" mode.

Thanks Mark, I have done the test on the new rectifier and I get the single beep followed by .OL when reversed, I shall go check the bike now...."I'll be back"

Doh....bike ran out of fuel before I could get the meter on the bike lol....I have connected the white wire to the green to increase charging voltage. I get get to that with the tank on so will see wht voltage she is putting out when I next start her.

Just a random thought Simon, but the voltage regulator is not playing up is it?

Could be ?, it was OK 7 volts when using the lights, didn't think the battery charging was regulated by the regulator ?, doesn't seem attached on the wiring diagram :)

Mark's post #7 in the attached might help.

Detailed electrics not really my strong point (if indeed I have a strong point!).

I have connected the white wire up as per the book to increase the charging voltage, now I am getting 7-9 volts when connected across the battery leads without the battery connected, if I drop the meter onto the green wire from the generator I'm getting nothing...me thinks thats why battery went flat lol.
I will now ponder the green wire problem, but no doubt before my grey matters kicks in Mark will have replied with solution :)
