Rt1b ignition switch and all other non essentials were removed by PO since he just rode dirt.

When I bought the bike he had all the electrical components haphazardly thrown into a box and several things were damaged including the solder points on the back of the ignition switch. Several wires hanging loose and know idea which wires go were.

I'd like to salvage the original switch and solder on new wires.

Does anyone have a loose switch to snap a pic of or be able to get one while on the bike?

Hello from the UK Lucas.

This is from the CMSNL website. Not perfect, but a start perhaps.

What I have done over the past year for my RT2 restoration is to try and save as many pictures as I could from all over the internet. A lot showed what I wanted almost by accident.

Good luck.

Thanks for the link but that's not gonna work. Unless the PO rewire some of the points the image shows wires in locations different than mine. Also doesnt show the side where my wires are loose. Frustrating!!! Well at least I have a few months before the season hits to figure it out.

The Tech Library has the RT1b service manual. The manual contains diagrams and information that should help figure out the wiring.

Here are two of them. First is a diagram of the back of the switch and the second is a "map" from the wiring diagram that shows which wires connect when the switch is in different positions. That map should allow you to use a simple continuity meter to determine which wires go where.

Forgot to mention that the diagram that shows the back of the key switch seems to have incorrect information written next to it as to what wires connect... unfortunately Yamaha manuals have errors like that. I don't know if the wire positions shown are correct either as I don't have an RT1b switch.

The second diagram looks correct to me.

Before DEET rebuild. You really can't go wrong by just sending it to have DEET get it correct.
Money well worth it !

Thanks everybody. This might get me there. I'll try testing the the points this week. I'll let you know how it goes and if I get it right I'll post up some pictures for anyone with the same issue.
