Hi Forum
I currenrly started to dismantle my next project bike - DT 250 from 76. I will come surely with a couple of questions. The first one: how did you paint the rear dampers? Sand or glas blasting and then just ordinary painting? The piston rod etc surely have to be protected. But finally that shouldn't be a big deal, right?
Thanks
Uwe

Thx blackhat
That's what I will most probably do. I think I have to identify the color or is there a color-code available for that dark-grey metallic?
Thx
Uwe

Hi all
I'm progressing with this bike. Just read about refilling the rear shocks. That seems to be easy. But I've still a question I could find no answer for: What would be the right viscosity? There is a wide range from SAE 5 to 20 available. The impact on the damping performance is significant. What did you choose or recommend?

Cheers
Uwe

Hi all
Tonight I cleaned the different parts of the shock absorbers. The expansion tank and other aluminum parts might have been sloppy painted black. The aluminum itself seems to be a kind of violet anodized. Was that the original color or should the shock absorber housing be painted black?
Thx for any advise,
Uwe

Cleaned mine up with rotating wire brush in my drill, no need to mask the shafts, just push them in and painted with a chrome finish silver auto paint :
